What SwingTrades does, what it never does, and where your data lives. The full user guide comes inside the app.
What is SwingTrades?
Software for Mac that places limit orders on your own Kraken account at the prices you set, for ETH against pounds. You enter a buy price, a swing size and an amount; SwingTrades places those orders, records what filled, and keeps a record by UK tax year.
Does SwingTrades or Percent Swing Ltd hold my money?
No. Your pounds and ETH stay in your own Kraken account. Percent Swing Ltd never receives, holds or moves anyone's money or cryptoassets.
What can the Kraken key do?
You create the key in your own Kraken account and give it only these permissions:
- see your balances
- see your open and closed orders and trades
- place and cancel orders
It never has withdrawal permission, so it can't move money off Kraken. The key is stored on your Mac and is never sent to us.
Who decides the prices?
You do. Every order comes from numbers you type in. Nothing is pre-filled, and SwingTrades doesn't choose prices for you. Orders are post-only limit orders, so if the market never reaches your price, nothing happens.
Does it give advice or predict prices?
No. SwingTrades doesn't recommend what to buy, when to buy, or how much. It doesn't predict prices and doesn't promise any return. Prices can fall a long way and you could lose all the money you put in.
Where is my data kept?
On your Mac. Your settings, orders, records and tax reports are stored in your Mac's own Application Support folder. Nothing about your trading is sent to Percent Swing Ltd, unless you turn on the optional online dashboard, which isn't yet open to new users (see the privacy policy).
What does the tax report do?
It records every fill by UK tax year (6 April to 5 April) and applies HMRC's matching rules for disposals, so you have the figures for your return in one place. It isn't tax advice; you're still responsible for your own return.
Which computers does it run on?
A Mac running macOS 12 or later. There's no Windows version yet.
Can I buy or download it?
Not yet. SwingTrades is in private use while we get it ready, and there's no sign-up or price for now.
Is Percent Swing Ltd regulated?
Percent Swing Ltd is a software company. It isn't authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and it doesn't hold money, give advice, or place orders for anyone. SwingTrades is independent software and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Kraken.
